Bryan’s Back At It. This Time He’s Going Big.

I like to be good at what I do.  And I like to succeed.  I like to select winning portfolios for my clients.  And I like to see them achieve their personal and financial goals.  I like seeing them have a comfortable and secure retirement.  I like the challenge of meeting every clients’ expectations.  I like to be sharp; able to meet what comes in front of me.  Challenging myself keeps me in that mindset.  More specifically, I enjoy taking on challenges that require focus, discipline and analytics.  For the past 10 years I have been participating in triathlons.  This has required me to hire a coach, develop a plan, implement the plan and monitor my progress.  I want to move up a level to a full Ironman.  Again it will require coaching, planning, discipline and monitoring.  I find that training at this level enhances my personal sense of well-being:  both at home and at work.

To keep me on-track, I hired a certified triathlon coach, Chuck Graziano, to design and monitor my plan.  I’ve come to recognize that coaching underpinned by solid science helps avoid injury and reduces the amount of training time.  He will help me avoid the big mistake that I would have not otherwise seen.  Most importantly,Valerie, is on board after double checking that all my insurances are adequate.

Beyond this week’s training, my sights are on the Muskoka, Half Ironman next summer.  At that point, I can check in both mentally and physically to see if I am up to the full race in 2017.  I am under no illusions around the difficulty of this commitment.  Still, life feels balanced enough to accommodate such a challenge.

I am not interested in sacrificing my long-term health, important relationships or you, my clients.  On the other hand, I am willing to sacrifice a bag of chips here and there, a few beers on the weekend or an extra TV episode during the week.  This may sound familiar to you.  In 2010, I kept you up to speed on my Half Ironman in our quarterly newsletters.

I would like to take you on this journey with me.  It keeps me honest and helps me stay committed.  Keep an eye out for my updates and cross your fingers for me.
