Ironman Update from Bryan (part 4)

It was in July that I completed the Muskoka half Ironman race and in the summer months that followed I misplaced my discipline.  My nutrition got sloppy, daily stretching regime became infrequent and workouts lost intent and purpose.  I was going through the motions but, between us, I was living off my previous accomplishment.  Without doubt I was tired and wanted to rebel from the rigours of the training program.  Let’s call it the ‘bear market’ of my training year.   Thankfully I am out of that funk and have reclaimed my focus.  Today, I am moving forward with purpose and not just inertia.  On a daily basis, the difference is marginal but over time the extra effort turns into real gains.

One of the ways that I re-inspired myself was to commit to my full goal.  I registered for the August 20th Mont Tremblant full Ironman.  I now have something specific to visualize around.  Much like a retirement plan, a plan with a quantified destination is easier to work towards and make sacrifices around.

It’s all real now and all in my hands.
